There’s a quick DISC related question that asks how your best friend would describe you. That’s good but there’s an even more powerful question if and when you’re ready to hear the answer.
The truly magical question involves asking those you trust most: what do you see as my greatest gifts, talents, abilities? And if you really want to go deep, ask how they see you holding yourself back.
I’ve done this several times both formally and in more conversational communications. And it is always illuminating.
The people that truly love and accept us see things within us that often we’re just too damn close to really witness and they can highlight things we may or may not be ready to recognize.
My phone is currently (intentionally) not with me but it is full of text conversations that are full of such wisdom from those I trust most.
Some of the recent conversations I’ve had have been illuminating my natural gifts of intuition and boundaries. Those are both NOT initially comfortable for me to step into owning, especially the intuition part. And yet if I’m honest I can’t deny them.
If you’re really interested in what your most natural and greatest gifts might be, consider asking those you trust most to share what they see them as.
The answers might surprise you. And maybe that’s a good thing.
