Our consumption crazed culture would have us believe worthiness exists outside of ourselves. Buy this product, take this pill, get this car/promotion/title/relationship/house/bank account, etc and THEN you’ll be worthy.
What if handing over our worthiness to anything (or anyone) outside of ourselves is not just crazy but also a recipe and fast track to feeling miserable.
We look at the highlight reel of others’ lives and compare ourselves then allow the brutal inner critic’s voice to convince us we’re massively failing at life.
What if true worthiness only and always exists within us. What if our culture of comparison and consumerism is a backwards point of view? What if more of us woke up at the steering wheel of our own lives? What if we gave ourselves the love and appreciation we’ve been waiting and searching for?
What if the one and most important relationship we will ever have is the one we have with ourselves. Because really, wherever you go there you are.
True power doesn’t come from anything or anyone outside of ourselves. External things and people can never be the true pathway to fulfillment. Believing we’ll be happy when we receive some external thing or achievement ignores the invitation to feel good right now. To appreciate this moment. And that, is liberating.
