Single Home Buyers in Charlotte NC

Over the years and even more so in the past several years I’ve worked with many single home buyers, both men and women choosing to buy a home regardless of whether they’re in a relationship or not.

Note: If you’re married it’s not possible to buy a home exclusively on your own without marital property rights coming into play, consult a real estate attorney if you have questions about that.

When buying a home as a single home buyer I’ve heard it described as both thrilling and terrifying. It’s definitely some of both.

Each and every decision is exclusively yours and yours alone to make. That alone can be both thrilling and terrifying in varying degrees! My role is advocate, support and guidance focused but I can’t tell you what decisions to make at each point in the process. This can however be thrilling in that ultimately no ones opinions and decisions matter other than your own.

When it comes to house style, location, layout, individual features you alone get to decide what you want (and don’t want) in any home you buy. There’s no need to compromise or blend differing style preferences because it’s all about you.

When it comes to financing, your income, savings, assets and reserves are the only ones considered. But this doesn’t have to be a detriment, it just depends on your circumstances. I’ve worked with married couples with just one income (not always the husband as sole earner).

ANY home buying process and journey brings stress, uncertainty and the unknown. That’s no different whether you’re married or single and buying a home all on your own. My advice is to surround yourself with a team of real estate and mortgage professionals that will be lighthouses and trusted advisors as you navigate the journey.

I’ve had single home buyer clients purchasing a first home and others who’ve owned homes before but are buying on their own for the first time, and others downsizing or buying to be closer to family in the area. It is ALWAYS exciting and a fresh new chapter regardless of the pathway to being a single home buyer.

Being the sole decision maker can be at times overwhelming but it’s also incredibly empowering and liberating. It’s part of what I love most about being single 😉
