Operation Reclaim the Living Room

living-rm-beforeYou may have heard how much a fresh coat of paint can change a room. It’s true!

After my ex husband was gone, the living room became priority #1 on reclaiming my home living space.

I hadn’t spent much time at all in this room for many, many months and it was both healing and transformative to reclaim this space.

I’ve painted many rooms over the years so this was by no means my first painting endeavor but this time it was much more personal.

The picture above was as I had taken the room apart and started the ceiling/trim painting. I didn’t realize I’d be sharing it so the pics were taken quickly on my phone 😉

This room represented darkness, heaviness, all things draining. I repainted the ceiling, all crown molding, window trim, the wall color and all of the wainscoting.

The result was a truly peaceful, calming space that reflected me! It is one of my favorite living-rm-after rooms in my home and is a place I spend time each morning with such immense gratitude.

If you are going through or have been through a traumatic transition in your own life and have the ability to paint even one room I highly recommend it.

There is definitely a reason many people choose to paint either before moving in or after having moved into a new home. It’s a process of personalization and making it a reflection of you and your lifestyle.

What’s your favorite paint transformation story in your current or a previous home?

I’ve since repainted other rooms but this living room will always be one of my favorites!
