Charlotte NC Home Buyer Question: They’re Going to Call My Job?

When buying a home in Charlotte NC if you’re getting a mortgage YES the lender is going to call your employer.

Why does the lender have to do that? To verify that you work where you say you do!

Home buyers are sometimes surprised at this but it’s just part of the process of obtaining a mortgage when buying a home.

Not only will the lender call your employer once…they’ll also usually call right before closing to verify that you still work there!

So if you’re planning to buy a Charlotte area home and will be obtaining a mortgage, expect that the lender will call and verify your job.

Absolutely under NO circumstances make ANY voluntary job changes during the mortgage process. In other words, don’t quit your current job and expect that you’ll still be able to buy the house.

    Great advice. I just spoke with a new agent today that was formerly a mortgage lender. She wants to get more on the client relationship side of the business and specifically mentioned how the mortgage process is intrusive and makes many customers uncomfortable. As real estate agents, we can prepare our buyers for the upcoming steps so they are not surprised or put off by the process. You also need to inform them not to do anything that will impact their credit prior to closing, such as opening a new credit card or financing things for the new home such as furniture… do that after closing or you may not have a place to put all of that new furniture 🙂
