This is the doorbell of a Charlotte NC area home for sale. It technically still “works” but functionality isn’t the issue – it’s the message being sent to home buyers (and their agents) viewing the home.
See, apparently this doorbell’s cover cracked and broke at some point. So the natural (?) solution was to take a piece of tape and cover the broken piece. There, good as new!
Um, not so fast. And if you’re a Charlotte NC home seller do you really think that buyers won’t notice?
When arriving with buyers to show a home I actually have a habit of ringing the doorbell before I start accessing the lockbox (I think it’s a courtesy) so I definitely notice when tape has replaced a broken doorbell cover. Being me, I bring it to my buyers attention so yes they notice it too – “look, there’s tape over that doorbell!”
A taped up doorbell isn’t the end of the world, BUT it sends a message to buyers that details have been overlooked or “done on the cheap” and when selling your Charlotte NC home that’s not the message you should be striving to send to home buyers.
I promise, go check out Lowe’s or Home Depot or ANY local hardware store…..a new doorbell (that doesn’t include tape as a cover) won’t break the bank and it’ll eliminate any potential for a negative start to the home buyers tour of your Charlotte NC home for sale.
Simple fix, and easily solved potential negative first impression!
