There were nearly 500 participants and over $11,000 was raised to benefit Charlotte’s local library system.
The Rock and read 5k course started at the Scaleybark library branch and wound through the Colonial Village neighborhood (just south of the Sedgefield neighborhood) before returning to the library parking lot and finish line.
Throughout the race course neighborhood residents and volunteers cheered on race particpants. Families, kids, even dogs were all part of the race events, the 5k and 1 mile fun run/walk.
There were enough hills, and none of them were truly awful. The weather was gorgeous, still comfortable before the heat set in.
It was a beautiful morning run and the post race party included music, food and beer. It was a festive atmosphere and a really fun event to benefit a great local cause.
Thanks to all of the organizers, the Friends of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library and all of the volunteers who put on such a great event last weekend!!!!!
