First Annual “Rock and Read 5K” to Benefit Charlotte Mecklenburg Libraries

As summer winds down, local Charlotte NC running races become more plentiful as we head into late August and the fall months.

A new addition to Charlotte’s race event schedule is the First Annual “Rock and Read 5k” which will benefit and raise awareness for our local Charlotte Mecklenburg Libraries.

Scheduled for September 18th, at the Scaleybark Library branch in south Charlotte NC, the Rock and Read 5k registration is open now.

Registration entry fees  for the 5k Run/Walk are $20 by August 18th, $25 by September 17th or $30 on race day.  Register online, or at the Dilworth Run for Your Life location

There will also be a 1 mile Fun Run/Walk ($10 by September 17th, $15 on race day) and a Kids Dash ($5 by September 17th, $10 on race day).

Presented by the Friends of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, the Rock and Read 5k will have bands at each mile of the race route and a festival after the race featuring entertainment, food and drinks.

Should be a great local running event and it’s benefitting a great cause – our local Charlotte area libraries that are experiencing challenges with budget cuts as demand for library services has been on the rise.
