The thing is, we don’t really see wintry weather all that often here in Charlotte so when it does (or might) happen, it’s just not an everyday event.
Instead of viewing it as cause for alarm or a cataclysmic event, I choose to look at the potential of some wintry weather as a rare opportunity.
If we do end up getting some snow, ice or sleet in the next couple of days, it’s a chance to experience and enjoy an event that really doesn’t happen everyday here in the Carolinas. It’s an opportunity to stay at home with family and enjoy a cozy day or so just spending time together.
Maybe it’s my nostalgia for winter weather having grown up in New York. When we do get snow sleet or ice here in Charlotte it’s a rare opportunity to experience “winter” with the added benefit that it won’t hang around very long and we’ll be back to moderate temps before we know it.
This weekend’s storm is supposed to arrive Friday night and Saturday, at a time when many people won’t have to commute. If you’re in Charlotte NC or the Southeast and get some wintry weather this weekend I hope you have the luxury of being able to stay at home and enjoy the opportunity for a taste of winter in the South!
