The Front Entry of Your Home Does Make an Impression on Charlotte NC Buyers

   The front entryway of your home can make a powerful impression on buyers so it cannot be overlooked.  Ways to Turn Off Charlotte NC Home Buyers includes some examples of “what not to do” with the front entryway of your home.

  Many people don’t routinely enter their home through the front door (garages, side doors are sometimes more convenient) and the main use of the front door is for guests.  If you don’t regularly use the front door the time to take a look and freshen it up is before you’re ready to put your house on the market.

   When preparing to sell your home, think of buyers as VIP guests. Now, this doesn’t mean roll out a red carpet because that would just be tacky and would probably look ridiculous but there are some relatively simple ways to liven up the front entry space and impress home buyers.

                -Paint the door: fresh paint can instantly update the door, just keep the color fairly neutral, this is not the time to paint the door hot pink or neon yellow

               
-Check the door hardware, if it’s worn, rusted, or broken replace it

               
-Keep it clean – this goes for the walkway, any steps as well as windows and storm doors


               
-Check for any peeling paint or rotting wood on any railings, trim, columns – Repair any damage, do NOT just paint over rotten wood!!!!

 

                -If the doormat has seen better days, get a new one. If there isn’t one, there needs to be!

 

                -Potted plants with either greenery or flowers can accent the space, just make sure they’re not too large or small for the space

 

                -Check the landscaping and any flower beds near the walkway and doorway to see if they need to be cleaned up/cut back or weeded

               
-Remove and replace any dead/dying shrubs, plants or flowers – buyers don’t want to feel like they’re arriving at a plant hospital

               
-Make sure that all lighting is clean and in good condition – updating the light fixtures can have a huge impact even during daylight.

  Even if the front door isn’t your main access door, it is for Charlotte NC home buyers so don’t neglect it when preparing your home for sale. It’s easy to focus on the interior projects and preparation but the front entry is equally as important and really does make an impression on home buyers.
